Tourism Minister Proposes Old Siem Reap International Airport as International Conference and Exhibition Hall

PHNOM PENH: Minister of Tourism Thong Khon floated the idea to turn the old International Airport in Siem Reap into a international conference and exhibition hall.

He asked for support for the idea at a conference to review the government's plan for tourism recovery post-Covid on June 22 at the Sokha Hotel.

The Minister of Tourism also requested the Prime Minister to consider the possibility of building a stadium near the old Siem Reap Airport or any other suitable location to attract tourists and respond to the needs of the tourism industry.

The new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is located approximately 51 km from Siem Reap City and about 40 km from Angkor Wat Temple and is expected to open in October 2023.
